Technology

We build and operate digital platforms that work in real clinical environments — secure, compliant, and designed for long-term use.

Our Platforms

Swiss4ward develops and operates a portfolio of specialised digital health platforms — each purpose-built for a specific domain, and all running on shared, secure infrastructure hosted in Switzerland and the EU.

Built on proven technology

Our platforms are built on modern, open-standard technologies — ensuring long-term maintainability, security, and independence from proprietary vendor lock-in.

  • Web platforms: Node.js, Apostrophe CMS

  • Clinical data systems: .NET Framework, SQL Server

  • Mobile: Native iOS and Android development

  • Infrastructure: EU & Swiss-hosted cloud, HTTPS, encrypted databases

  • Integration: REST APIs for connectivity with third-party systems and institutional data environments

Built to regulatory standards

Our platforms are designed from the ground up for use in regulated healthcare environments:

  • GDPR Art. 9 compliant — special category health data handled with full legal basis, pseudonymisation, and audit trails

  • ICH-GCP ready — data capture and audit trail standards aligned with Good Clinical Practice guidelines

  • revDPA compliant — Swiss data protection requirements fully addressed

  • EU & Swiss cloud hosting — all data hosted within Switzerland and the EU, no third-country transfers

  • Role-based access control — granular user permissions across all platforms

  • End-to-end encryption — data encrypted in transit and at rest

  • Audit logs — complete, tamper-proof activity logs for all clinical data platforms

How our platforms work together

Our platforms share a common technical foundation — which means clinical study data, patient-reported outcomes, and educational content can be integrated across systems where needed.

  • CRF.one acts as the data backbone for longitudinal studies and registries

  • Patient programmes (noozad, HautKompass) can feed PRO data directly into CRF.one

  • DermaCompass integrates guideline content from EDF and national societies

  • All platforms are web-based — accessible on any device, no installation required

  • White-label deployment available for institutional partners

Long-term operation, not just delivery

We don't just build and hand over. Swiss4ward operates its platforms continuously — managing hosting, updates, security patches, user support, and ongoing development in close collaboration with our partners.

  • Dedicated support for each platform and partner

  • Regular security updates and penetration testing

  • Uptime monitoring and incident response

  • Scalable infrastructure for multi-centre, international studies

EU-funded research partnership

Swiss4ward participated as technology partner in a European Union-funded research project (2018–2021) focused on harmonising undergraduate dermatology and venereology education across Europe. The project — coordinated by leading university hospitals from Germany, Italy, Croatia, France, Finland, Belgium, and Spain — resulted in a pan-European digital learning platform now deployed to over 500 universities in 8 languages. This project is the foundation of Cyberderm, Swiss4ward's dermatology education platform operated in partnership with the European Dermatology Forum (EDF).
